Pakistan cricket team is facing a lot of questions. And, quite rightly so. The Babar Azam-led side slumped to an eight-wicket loss against a lower-ranked Afghanistan in a stunning result at the Cricket World Cup. Counted as among the pre-Cricket World Cup favourites, the Pakistan cricket team faces an early exit form the marquee event after three straight losses. They are currently living on the edge and any more lapses will spell doom for the side at the Cricket World Cup.

Against Afghanistan, who are still a rising force in world cricket, Pakistan could not defend a 282-run total. Former Pakistan cricket team star Shoaib Akhtar is stunned to see the state of Pakistan cricket.

“Keep bringing mediocre and average people. People have made a joke of brand building. It’s about building an institution that builds a brand. Now what do I say in this long debate?” Akhtar said in a video posted on his X account.

“The position Pakistan cricket has reached and where the cricket team is today is a direct reflection of their own choices they have made in the last 20-30 years. Keep on bringing the same people, keep on making the same mistakes and you will get the same kind of results.”

Afghanistan put on a stunning display of tight bowling and powerful hard-hitting to register a massive upset victory over Pakistan in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday.

Afghanistan created history by trouncing Pakistan for the first time in ODIs, courtesy of a fabulous batting display by Afghanistan’s Top 4 and Noor Ahmed’s outstanding three-wicket haul.

Pakistan’s unhappy knack of slipping on banana skins resurfaced yet again as it turned out to be a red-letter day for the Afghanistan side as they caused a massive upset by trouncing Men in Green by 8 wickets in Chennai.

This is the second time the Afghanistan team caused a massive upset in the ongoing marquee event as the men of the warrior country defeated the defending champions England by 69 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz (65) Ibrahim Zadran (87) and Rahmat Shah (77)* starred with the bat to help Afghanistan register a commanding upset triumph.

Chasing a target of 283, Afghanistan’s dangerous openers made a brisk start, scoring 60 runs without loss in the opening powerplay
