Senior dies after being struck by minivan in Beaverton: Durham police

A senior died after being struck by a vehicle in the village of Beaverton, Ont., on Tuesday afternoon.

Durham Regional police said that at around 3 p.m., a pedestrian was struck on Simcoe Street. Police determined the man was trying to cross the street when he was struck by an eastbound minivan.

Police say the 86-year-old man sustained serious injuries and died while being taken by paramedics to hospital.

Police say the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

Simcoe Street was closed for several hours as police investigated.
