The Kitchener Rangers moved atop the Western Conference standings with a 6-1 victory on Tuesday night over the Erie Otters at the Aud.
Kitchener’s Matthew Sop opened the scoring for the home side at the 5:49 mark of the opening period, giving the Rangers a lead they would not relinquish.
Trent Swick would double Kitchener’s lead with just over a minute to play in the first period, allowing the Rangers to hold a 2-0 advantage after the first period.
The Rangers forward would score his second of the game five minutes into the second frame, and around six minutes later Adrian Misaljevic would make it 4-0 for the Boys in Blue.
Rangers rookie Tanner Lam would make it 5-0 for Kitchener early in the third period before Zach Filak would finally put the Otters on the board.
Carson Rehkopf would score his 12th of the season to finish out the scoring, with Kitchener besting Erie 6-1.
Rangers netminder Jackson Parsons would turn aside 22 shots to record the win while his counterpart, Nick Surzycia, made 23 saves in a losing effort.

Hunter Brzustewicz would get an assist on the Rehkopf’s goal, allowing both to be joint top-scorers in the OHL having recorded 21 points apiece.
Misaljevic is third at 20 points while Sop is fourth at 19 points giving the Rangers the top four point-getters so far this season.
Rehkopf is the league’s top goal-getter, having scored 12 while Brzustewicz is the number one setup man in the OHL having recorded 16 assists in the team’s first 11 games.
The Rangers are now atop the OHL’s Western Conference, two points in front of the Soo Greyhounds.
